May 3 - NPS Wildflower Hike.  Beech Fork Lake, Lavalette end.  9:30, meet at the Marina.

June 20-22, 2014 - WVNPS Field Trip
Location: Handley Wildlife Management Area (GPS: Lat. 38.23 Long. -80.09) and surrounding areas in Pocahontas County
Meet at (for those staying at the cabin): The Handley Wildlife Management Area (WMA) personnel cabin Friday June 20  6:00 pm. Directions; Take State Route 17, which intersects U.S. Route 219 at Edray, WV approximately four miles north of Marlinton, WV. From the Highland Scenic Highway, turn south on Forest Road 86 (Williams River Road) and state Route 17/4 to Co. Rt. 17/1 following WVDNR signs to the area. The personnel cabin is located near the end of Co. Rt. 17/1 at a four-way intersection. The cabinís driveway is straight ahead and uphill as you enter this intersection. The campground is a right turn at this intersection. Proceed ľ mi to the campground.

The West Virginia Native Plant Society will conduct field trips to the Greenbrier River Trail on Saturday and Upper Williams River
and Cranberry Glades on Sunday June 21 and 22 and hold a board meeting June 21 at 6:00 pm in the personnel station (cabin) at WMA.

Lodging: Camping-there is a 13 space primitive (but very nice and seldom used) campground in the Handley WMA.
Personnel station: A 10-person cabin is located in the WMA. The cabin has electricity, a modern bathroom, and 10 single bunks arranged in one large space.

Hotels: Marlinton Motor Inn, Marlinton, WV 800-354-0821, Elk River Inn, Slatyfork, WV 304-572-3771, and there are 15 hotels at Snowshoe.

Greenbrier River Trail 10:00 am. Meet at the Seebert trial access point. (Take Co. Rt. 27 off of US Rt. 219 near Hillsboro, WV.)
  Lunch on your own/brown bag.
      Board of directors meeting (open to the public) at the Handley WMA personnel cabin 6:00 to 8:00 pm
      Upper Williams River 10:00 am. Meet at the intersection of Forest Service Rts. 86 and 216. We will proceed on this route to
Cranberry Glades where we will break for lunch (on your own). Here we can take the boardwalk or hike a portion of the Cow Pasture trail.
