         December 12th. Winter Lecture Series at Marshall University.  Chad Kirschbaum, Wayne National Forest,  discusses "Fire Ecology of the Appalachian         Foothills".  6:30-7:30 MU Science Building Room 376.  Free and open to the public.

January 2008

         January 16th.  Winter Lecture Series at Marshall University.  John Wiley, Ohio University, discusses "Silvicultural Effects on Forest Mosses in Vinton          County: Ohio Records and Species Trends".  6:30-7:30  MU Science Building Room 376.  Free and open to the public.

February 2008

         February 13th.  Winter Lecture Series at Marshall University.  Gerald Scott, Ohio University, discusses "Tree-of-heaven its history, biology, and invasion         into the deciduous forests of southern Ohio". 6:30-7:30  MU Science Building Room 376.  Free and open to the public.

March 2008

        March 12th.  Winter Lecture Series at Marshall University.   Jim Boggess discusses "The Wildflowers of  Barboursville Park".  6:30-7:30  MU Science         Building Room 376.  Free and open to the public.

April 2008

         April 5th.  Wildflower Hike.  East Lynn Lake- East Lynn WV.  Meet 8 am at the 5th Street Park and Ride, off I-64 in Huntington.  Note: this hike will be          moderately difficult, bring canteen and hiking stick.  Sponsored by the Tri-State Chapter of the WVNPS.

         April 26th.-    Kanawha State Forest Foundation Osbra Eye Memorial Walks.  Registration starts at 9:00 am at the swimming pool area. Sponsored by          the  Kanawha Valley Native Plant Society

May 2008

         May 3rd.  Wildflower Hike.  Carter Caves State Park- Olive Hill, KY.  Meet at the visitors center at 9 am.  From I-64 east. Take exit #161 (Olive Hill         exit). Turn left off the exit onto US 60 east. Go approximately 2 miles and turn left on KY 182 north. Park entrance is 3 miles from the left turn onto KY         182 north.  Sponsored by the Tri-State Chapter of the WVNPS.

June 2008

         June 21st.  Wildflower Hike.  Symmes Creek- Cadmus, OH.  Note: This is a joint hike with the Ohio Moss and Lichen Association. Meet 8 am at the old         school in Cadmus, OH (Hwy 141 Gallia County) The school building is a wide brick building on the right side of the road along 141 as you come into the         town.  From Huntington take the east end bridge into OH.  Continue straight until you reach the junction with Rt 775 and take it north.  Take 141 to         Cadmus.

         June 27-28th – Pocahontas County/Handley Wildlife Management Area Weekend.  Please register with Chris Gatens at 304/458-2533 or Kevin         Campbell at 304/679-3754.  Sponsored by the  Kanawha Valley Native Plant Society.

July 2008

         July 26th.  Wildflower Hike.  Greenbottom Swamp, WV.  Meet 9 am at the General Jenkins House.  From Huntington, travel north on West Virginia         State Route 2 for about 16 miles. The General Jenkins House is a white historic house on the left side of road.  Sponsored by the Tri-State and Kanawha         Valley Chapters.

August 2008

         August 16th - Winfield  Swamp Interpretive Hike at 9:00 am. Meet at the Wendy’s Parking Lot at the junction of Route 34 and 35.  Sponsored by the          Kanawha Valley Native Plant Society.

September 2008

         September 13th – Margaret Dennison Memorial Hikes at Kanawha State Forest.  Registration begins at 9:00 am at the swimming pool area.    Sponsored         by the Kanawha Valley Native Plant Society.

        September 20th- Annual State Hike and Meeting..  Chief Logan State Park, Logan, WV.    Meet 10:30 am at the lake parking lot.  Bring water and a field         lunch.  Break from hikes by 5:00pm for dinner.  Board meeting 6:30 pm at picnic pavillion provided by park (or members lodge room if weather is bad.         Sunday morning hike will be decided and announced on Saturday.       

        TBA- Possible Wildflower Hike at Mills Creek, Milton WV. Sponsored by the Tri-State Chapter of the WVNPS.

October 2008

          October 11th – Hike to Ivy Knob atop Guyandotte Mountain on the Boone, Raleigh, and Wyoming County lines. Please register with Chris Gatens at           304/458-2533. The meeting location for the hike is to be announced.  Sponsored by the Kanawha Valley Native Plant Society.
